Jock straps, light-up bras and butt print hoodies: Yoko Ono launches wacky menswear line inspired by her late husband

Yoko Ono has launched a wacky menswear line featuring jock straps, light-up bras and hoodies emblazoned with butt prints.
The 79-year-old artist and widow of Beatle John Lennon debuted her new clothing line, called Fashions For Men 1969-2012 for U.S. label Opening Ceremony, this week.
Ono said she based all 18 pieces in the range on a set of fashion sketches she gave her late husband before their 1969 wedding. The designs were intended to emphasize his 'very sexy bod'.

She told WWD: 'I was inspired to create Fashions For Men amazed at how my man was looking so great. I felt it was a pity if we could not make clothes emphasising his very sexy bod.

'So, I made this whole series with love for his hot bod and gave it to him as a wedding present. You can imagine how he went wild and fell in love with me even more.'

Other pieces included in Ono's limited-edition line include a mesh cut-out shirt, suit pants with a hand print over the crotch and knee pads printed with the words 'stop' and 'go'.
A jersey pullover features cut outs to expose the nipple area allowing for a separate 'lightbulb bra', installed with battery-operated light bulbs, to be worn underneath.
On the footwear front there is a thigh-high leather boot with open toes.
Each design is being produced in a run of 52 pieces, however there are larger stocks of sweatshirts and posters decorated with Ono’s line drawings.

Describing the range Humberto Leon, co-founder of Opening Ceremony said: 'I think she just fell in love with John’s body and wanted to show off all of the parts of his body that she loved.
'There’s something so beautiful about that sentiment. And we’ve realized these designs in pretty actual terms of how she drew them.'
Leon and his business partner, Carol Lim first met Ono when she attended the kick-off party for their Opening Ceremony flagship in Tokyo in 2009.

Yoko Ono Fashions for Men 1969-2012 collection, ranges from $75 to $750 and is available for purchase on Opening Ceremony's website.
As well as hitting stores in New York and Los Angeles it will launch in London on November 30 and Tokyo on December 9.
