Alizee[a.li.ze] is a French singer, discovered by French singer, song writer and actress Mylene Farmer. she entered the world of Music, with her debut album Gourmandises (means Sweets in French),in 2000. First it was released in France in November 2000 followed by an international release on 13th March 2001. It received Platinum certification with three months of its release. Her first album earned her the distinction of being the highest selling female French singer in 2001.
She released her second album in 2003 which was not as successful as her debut album but she went on to perform more than 40 concerts throughout France, Belgium and Switzerland.
In late 2003 Alizee married fellow french singer Jeremy Chatelain and after her marriage she took break for about four years. Then she returned in December 2007 with her new album called Psychedelics.
Despite of her commercial success, critics felt that she is desperately trying to be sexy.
But she often received praises because of her deep voice and her ability to demonstrate her impressive vocal range.

Alizée prépare son cinquième album

Alizée prépare actuellement la sortie d'un cinquième album pour cette année. Aucune autre information sur le sujet pour l'heure, mais cette nouvelle rassurera son public qui n'y croyait plus vraiment depuis l'échec de son dernier projet "Une enfant du siècle".

Beaucoup n'y croyaient plus suite aux résultats décevants des ventes de son quatrième album "Une enfant du siècle", sorti en 2010 et écoulé à seulement quelques milliers d'exemplaires. Rien à avoir donc avec les disques qui se vendaient par wagons il y a de cela dix ans alors que la jeune fille encore mineure était sous l'égide de Mylène Farmer. Pourtant, Alizée prépare actuellement son successeur, un cinquième album, toujours chez Jive Epic (Sony Music). On ne connait pas encore la direction artistique que la chanteuse empruntera pour ce nouveau projet. Il faut dire qu'entre "Gourmandises" et "Une enfant du siècle", la belle s'est illustrée dans différents registres, passant de la pop mielleuse de "L'Alizée" à des sons plus urbains pour "Décollage" (album "Psychédélices"). Plus récemment, Alizée était en studio pour enregistrer le titre "Des ricochets" pour le collectif associatif Paris-Africa au profit de l'Unicef. Enfin, la chanteuse continue de participer régulièrement au spectacle des Enfoirés. Cette année encore, elle sera sur la scène de la Halle Tony Garnier de Lyon du 1 au 6 février avec le reste de la troupe pour présenter "Le bal des Enfoirés".

Ce n'est donc pas parce qu'elle n'est pas sur le devant de la scène qu'elle reste inactive. Alizée a accepté d'entrer en studio pour participer au prochain album d'Alain Chamfort, "Elles et lui", dans les bacs le 16 avril. Un projet original à la manière de Gérard Lenorman : l'artiste reprend plusieurs de ses standards dans des versions revisitées avec des artistes féminines françaises. Figureront sur cet opus Vanessa Paradis, Jenifer, Claire Keim, Fredrika Stahl, Berry et Camélia Jordana. Alizée aurait posé sa voix sur le titre "Clara veut la lune".

Alizee also known by her nickname “Lili”, Alizee started dancing early in her life, and by age four was already proficient. A year later, Alizee was enrolled in Corsica’s renowned dance school, École du Spectacle de Monique Mufraggi, and trained there until Alizee was 15. On 1995, at the age of eleven, Alizee won a coloring competition organized by Air Outre Mer, a former French airline now partly acquired by Swissair. Her design won first prize and was reproduced on the cabin of one of the airline’s aircraft. The aircraft was subsequently named after her, and Alizee won a trip to the Maldives for her efforts.

Alizee was discovered by veteran Canadian-born French pop diva Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, when Alizee following her winning performance in the TV talent show “Graines de Star”, broadcast on Métropole 6, on 1999. While collaborating with Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, Alizee released two albums—both of which were hits inside and outside of France.

This year, Alizée was involved in Les Enfoirés and the single Des Richochets with over 44 artists part of the Paris-Africa group founded for UNICEF in a collaboration to fight against the malnutrition. In early 2011 she announced her collaboration on Alain Chamfort's new album and announced a comeback to the music scene with a new studio album scheduled spring of 2012.
Despite marketing hype and commercial success, there were mixed critical responses to the launch of Moi... Lolita, Alizée's first single. The critics felt that the similarity in style to that of Mylène Farmer was too striking. Some felt that her Lolita image overshadowed her singing prowess, describing her as "desperately trying to be sexy", and many were ready to write her off.^[59] Some of her songs have been described as "sweeping, atmospheric ballads" whose "melodies are so sparkling and beguiling", and from which Alizée manages to "squeeze more emotion than the usual pop package".^[60][61] Alizée's three albums include a wide range of songs, from catchy pop tunes to soulful ballads. A couple of months ago, a bright new mural appeared on Suydam Street. A cartoonish hand, holding a steaming cup, with bright rays of yellow bursting from behind, announced the lure of coffee and more, from inside. “How long have you been here,” I asked on my first visit last week. A deadpan, “two years,” from Ewelina Heperek, was the reply.

Heperek, who co-owns the Alizee café with Karolina Musial, has been working hard to increase the business’s visibility. For years they had been hidden behind a non-descript green awning. Now they’re out in the open, alerting neighbors who just didn’t know they were there. In the petite café, they serve coffee and tea and mix of sandwiches, smoothies, and breakfast items.
The menu is peppered with Polish names, with items like the Zapiekanka — a baguette cradling grilled mushrooms and cheese. The carefully constructed Kanapka sports layers of smoky poledwica ham and podlaski cheese with hard boiled egg, tomato, and butter. Bushwickers can stay on this side of the borough line for their Warsaw-inflected grub now. A more American item is The Hangover, with ham, bacon, sauteed onions, and an egg on a roll — ask for the spicy mayo.
“We want to do more hourly specials. Hot periogis, stuff like that,” says Heperek, who lives above the café. It’s surprisingly busy on a Thursday afternoon, as a small line forms for toasted bagels, freshly squeezed apple and carrot juice, and scrambled eggs served with Polish sausage and onions. The café has a homespun feel, with shelves stocked with bowls and utensils, and a domestic fridge stocked with pitchers of coffee waiting to be poured over cups of ice.

Alizee was born August 21, 1984, in Ajaccio, Corsica. She began to take dance lessons at the age of 5 and soon added drama and voice instruction to her repertoire. Her parents entered her in the equivalent of Star Search later on in life and Alizee won the studio and television audience over with an interpretation of a big radio hit in France at the time.

The performance led to an audition to record "Moi... Lolita" in 2000 in front of pop star Mylène Farmer and producer Laurent Boutonnat. The duo was overwhelmed with the presence of the young Alizee and after a callback, a contract was signed.

The song "Moi... Lolita" went on to become one of the top selling singles in recent chart history. Alizee had become an overnight pop success. After a string of promotional appearances to plug the single, Alizee recorded the album Gourmandises, written by Farmer from the point of view of a teenage girl going through typical adolescent growing pains.

The album proved to be a phenomenal smash and hot on the heels of "Moi... Lolita", went platinum in France in just three months. The next single "L'Alize," released in conjunction with the album, also achieved major sale success in her native country and abroad.

Having established herself in France, Germany and The Netherlands, Alizee went international in 2001, with Gourmandises being released to greater Europe, including Russia, as well as Canada and Japan. In England, her debut single was given significant airplay without the benefit of a translated version, a rarity in the fickle UK market.

2004 - 2007: Mes Courants Électriques, First Tour & pregnancy

In 2003, Alizée returned with her second album Mes Courants Électriques (My Electric Currents).[16] With the release of this album, she changed her image from a "Lolita" to that of a more toned-down teenager. This album was also written by Farmer and Boutonnat. While it had some success in and outside France, this second album, featuring English versions of four tracks, was not as well-received as her first one, Gourmandises. It sold 400,000 copies in France.

The first single from this album, "J'en ai marre!" (also known as "Mon bain de mousse" in Japan) was released in 2003. The music video for this shows Alizée in a glass cage, singing while having water splashed on her. The plexiglass cage, 3 by 3 meters in dimension, was constructed in a Parisian studio, and the shooting of the video took two days.[12] An English-language version of this song, titled "I'm Fed Up!", was also released, and featured similar visuals for the music video.

The other singles from this album were "J'ai pas vingt ans" and "À contre-courant". Like "J'en ai marre!", "J'ai pas vingt ans", "Youpidou" and "Amélie m'a dit" also had English versions. The video for "J'ai pas vingt ans" ("I'm Not Twenty") resembles the ambience of a concert with Alizée dancing in the midst of several other dancers.[12] "À contre-courant", the last single from this album, was shot in an abandoned coal factory.[12] Unlike the other two singles, there was no English-language rendition of this song.

Following the release of Mes Courants Électriques, Alizée went on a countrywide tour of France, along with a performance each in Belgium and Switzerland, during the second half of 2003. The tour started off with a performance on 26 August 2003 in Paris.[4][17] It concluded with her performance on the eve of 17 January 2004 at the Le Zénith concert hall in Paris and had covered major cities including Lyon, Rouen, Lille, Grenoble and Dijon.[4]

A live CD and DVD, titled Alizée En Concert, composed of selected performances from her tour, was launched a year later in the fall of 2004.[18] The audio CD contained tracks, taken from her two studio albums. The DVD featured video footage of the same performances as on the CD, along with bonus footage of her rehearsals.

The compilation was re-released in early 2007 in Mexico by Universal Music as a CD+DVD release,[19] following the featuring of the songs in local radio stations. With the re-release and renewed interest, the songs climbed up the music charts in the country. The album became a hit, peaking at number four in the International Chart on 28 May 2007,[20] and number eight on the main albums chart. En concert has a Gold certification for shipments over 50,000 copies only in Mexico.[21]
