What happened! Brooke Shields cuts her hair into a mullet and cools off in a paddling pool for her appearance on The Middle

With her glossy hair and chic sense of style, Brooke Shields is a staple of the Hollywood scene.
So it comes as a surprise to see her sporting a mullet and relaxing in a paddling pool.
The 47-year-old couldn't have looked less like her usual self in her guest appearance on The Middle, playing neighbour from hell Rita Glossner.

Trashy look: Brooke Shields sported a mullet for her appearance in The Middle on Wednesday

The ABC programme on Wednesday night showed the actress wearing a garish zebra print swimsuit which showed off a tattoo on her stomach.

 

She added to her tacky look by flaunting a belly-button ring and fake tan which could only go well with her outdated hairdo.
With her makeup smudged in one scene where she stands in a character’s front doorway, the 5'11" star towers over the sitcom's leading lady, Patricia Heaton.

Hardly paradise: Her character on the show plays a neighbour from hell

Donning clashing prints of floral, animal and Aztec, she appears rather threatening as she pulls a mean facial expression with a canned drink in her hand.
In another part of the show, Brooke appeared in a white crochet top and denim shorts as the Orson, Indiana locals dip their feet in a paddling pool in a back yard.
During the episode, Rita, convinced that Frankie Heck (Heaton) has stolen the Glossner garden hose, promised to rain fire down on the Heck household.

Outfit change: Brooke switched into a white crochet top and denim shorts

In the reign of terror that ensued, Frankie even chipped a tooth, though it was all her own fault and not that of Shields’ frightening character.
The look is a stark contrast to her usual get-up.
This week she was looking very classy as she supported the 11th annual charity bash of music legend Elton John wearing a floor-length frock to the An Enduring Vision bash.
