Days of the old schoolyard: Cindy Crawford parades her cover girl looks in newly unearthed yearbook photos

Most teenagers go through an awkward stage for at least a few years in high school, with the evidence cruelly documented for posterity in their annual high school yearbook.
No such fate for original supermodel Cindy Crawford, it seems, with a newly unearthed yearbook photograph showing the young teen was cover girl-ready well before she finished high school.
The photo, which was taken while Cindy was at DeKalb High School in Illinois, is one of a handful of new celebrity yearbook pics released by the website Ancestry.com.

Other celebrities making a first-time entrance on the website include a very young Owen Wilson, a preppy Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. (a.k.a. Snoop Dog) and real-life sporty versions of Kevin Costner (in a baseball uniform) and Dustin Hoffman (in tennis gear).
Crawford, now 46, was discovered at the age of 16 by a newspaper photographer, who took a picture of her while she was working at her summer job of detasseling corn.
She entered the Elite Model Management's Look of the Year contest at 17 and was the runner-up. The Elite modeling agency in Chicago then started representing her.

Crawford graduated from DeKalb High School in 1984, as valedictorian. She won an academic scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University, which she attended for only one quarter.
She dropped to pursue a full-time modeling career.
A 12-year-old Owen Wilson, meanwhile, appears in a private school uniform in his photo from St. Mark's School of Texas in Dallas.
The photo was taken before Wilson broke his nose for the first time - reportedly during a high school fight.

If there was once child teachers probably wouldn't have bet on for a successful future, it was Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr.
The young rapper, who was nick named 'Snoopy' by his parents, attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School.
He was convicted for cocaine possession while still at school, serving six months at the Wayside County Jail.
In his yearbook photo, a teenage Snoop Dog looks positively preppy, wearing his short hair neat and a buttoned up Lacoste T-shirt.

Actor Kevin Costner has done more than his fair share of baseball movies (or at least movies in which he has played a baseball star)  - Bill Durhum, Field of Dreams, For the Love of the Game and The Upside of Anger.
So it's fun to see a teenage Costner dressed in a baseball uniform in his yearbook photograph.
The pic was taken while Costner, now 57, was a student at Villa High School in Orange County.
Costner was moved around several different schools in Southern California as his engineer father was relocated for work, and the actor has talked about the difficulties he faced as a result.
Dustin Hoffman, meanwhile, appears in his yearbook photo in tennis whites, holding a racket and standing beside another high-school tennis player.
The now 75-year-old two-time Oscar winner graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1955.
