She'd just received the bad news that her pilot TV show Cinnamon Girl would not be commissioned for a first series.
But what better way for Renee Zellwegger to ease her disappointment than with a kiss from her boyfriend Doyle Bramhall.
The guitarist pulled Renee into his arms for a long embrace as they waited to go through security at Los Angeles airport.

While she was heading out of the city after her bad news, the actress certainly didn't seem to be brooding.

Doyle had his guitar slung over his back, while dressed-down Renee pulled her own luggage.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed earlier that day that U.S. network Lifetime had passed on Cinnamon Girl, a coming-of-age tale by Renee and Anthony Tambakis.

The show was to have revolved around four girls in LA during the cultural revolution of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
It was loosely based on Renee's own life, and her move her from home in Austin, Texas to LA.
It was in Texas met way back in 1990 that Renee met Doyle, when they were both students in a co-ed dorm at the University Of Texas.
While they have known each other for more than two decades the couple only began dating shortly before Christmas.

Doyle, who is known for his work in Arc Angels and for touring with Eric Clapton, asked Renee out when they both found themselves single.

'Do you even understand how big a deal that you debuted at number two on the New York Times Best Sellers List for the Children’s Books?' asked Ellen, before going on to talk about the girls first acting role - on Nickelodeon's Sam & Cat.

Last week the cousins, once again wearing their tutus, were at the Grammys.
Sophia tweeted: 'Congratulations @carrieunderwood on winning a Grammy, It was a SO good singing to you on the red carpet'. And they were pictured chatting to Katy Perry.
The girls remain living in the UK but jet to America for up to a month at a time, with Sophia's father Dominic Brownlea documenting the trips on his Twitter page.
'Nearly time to leave, Its been a great 3 weeks in #LA, Thank you @TheEllenShow @TheGRAMMYs , Be back soon,' he wrote on Sunday.
